Darshan Thoogudeepa was born on 16 February 1977 in Ponnampet, Kodagu district. Darshan, one of the most famous Indian actors in the Kannada film industry. Darshan’s birth name is Hemanth Kumar. The star got his name darshan from the famous Kannada actor during his time and Thoogudeepa got it from his father. Against his wishes, he enrolled himself in Ninasam, theater training institute. He did his schooling from mysuru. Darshan began his career in small films and daily soaps in the mid-1990.
Career
Darshan started his career as a projectionist before becoming an assistant cameraman to veteran cinematographer B.C. Gowrishankar.
2001: Darshan got his breakthrough in the movie Majestic which is directed by P.N Satya in which Thoogudeepa played a role of Dassa (the underworld Don). Then Darshan appeared in the movies such as Kitti, Ninagoskara and many more.
2004: Darshan starred in Kalasipalya, directed by Om Prakash Rao.
2008: Darshan appeared in another film Gaja which helped him to establish a niche as a well built, rustic yet "posh" young man.
2014: The Hindu wrote: "He sizzles on the screen in his tailor-made avatar as Mr. Airavata”. In this movie Darshan played the role of policeman.
2016: Darshan starred in the movie Viraat in which Thogudeepa played a role of businessman who wanting to provide a solution to the issue of irregular power supply by taking up a thermal power project. The Indian Express, in its review, wrote that despite the loopholes, Darshan "cements them.
2019: The Indian mythological film Kurukshetra was released on 9 august. In the same year Darshan released another movie Odeya on 12 December.
Personal life
In 2003 he married chemical engineering student Vijaylakshmi,who was the relative of Darshan. Thoogudeepa runs his mini zoo in the east of Mysore.
Darshan, indulged in controversy in 2011, when his wife complained to police, accusing him of domestic violence. Darshan spent 14 days in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara.
Awards and achievement
In 2010, Darshan won the Zee Kannada Innovative Film Awards in the category of Onida style icon.
In 2012, Darshan won the south Filmfare award for the film Sarathi. He won Bangalore Press Club Man of the Year and Bangalore Times Filmfare award.
In 2021, Darshan won 9th SIIMA Award for the movie Yajamana.
Unknown facts:
There was a time when Darshan’s father died in 1995; his family was barely left with any savings after his father’s treatment. Darshan, to make ends meet, started selling milk door-to-door and worked at a hotel.
The star has also taken responsibility for the education of many underprivileged children and donated lakhs to those who seek his help for medical emergencies.
