Veeramachaneni Jagapathi Rao Chowdary, well-known as Jagapathi Babu, is a Telugu film actor. He has also starred in Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil movies. Babu has appeared in 170 feature films over the journey of his 33-year career, winning four Filmfare Awards and seven state Nandi Awards.

He grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, before creating an identity for himself in Telugu cinema. Lakshmi is his wife, and they have two daughters.

In 1989 – He began his acting career with the film "Simha Swapnam."

In 1992 – Babu's film "Peddarikam" marked his first box-office success.
