Upendra Rao, a film actor, filmmaker, producer, politician, and screenwriter from India. He primarily works in Kannada movies but has also appeared in Telugu ones. Before making his way into the film industry, he was just a regular college student at APS College of Commerce. He took part in plays with friends and made troupes. That was until he met Kashinath during his final year. Kashinath is an actor and director that’s also related to Upendra.

Upendra married actress Priyanka Trivedi, a former Miss Kolkata who acted in the Telugu movie Raa with him and then in the Hindi film H2O.

In 1993 – Upendra directed the horror movie "Shhh!"

In 1999 – His self-titled film, "Upendra," broke numerous records and became a massive hit in both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

In 2001 - Upendra was the writer and star of the Telugu film "Raa." The film was a commercial success in Andhra Pradesh.

In 2008 – His film "Budhivanta" which turn out to become a box-office blockbuster.
