Nüzhet Gökdoğan was born on 14 August 1910 and died on 24 April 2003. In addition to being a Turkish astronomer, mathematician, and academic, she was also a researcher. She was awarded a scholarship to study in France when she was in her late teens. Her PhD was completed in 1934 after studying mathematics and astronomy in France as a young adult. Turkish astronomy symposiums she organized were national and international. A national observatory is credited with solidifying broader interest in the late 1970s.
