About (Profile/Biography):
Raja Chari, an American test pilot, was born in Wisconsin on June 24, 1977. In addition to attending Columbus High School, he was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. His education culminated in 1999 when he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy as a bachelor's degree holder in Astronautical Engineering and Engineering Science. This includes Mathematics as minor subject. His master's degree in Astronautics and Aeronautics was earned at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Charles Stark Draper Laboratory.
Career:
He attended Vance AFB's undergraduate pilot training after completing his master's degree.
During 2007, Chari was an exchange officer at Patuxent River, Maryland, as well as a developmental test pilot at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
A member of NASA Astronaut Group 22, Chari began astronaut training in August 2017 and is expected to finish it within two years.
Artemis selected Chari to be a member of its team in December 2020
The EVA by Chari and Matthias Maurer took place on March 23, 2022, outside the Quest Joint Airlock on the International Space Station.
