Charles William Ergen is a multibillionaire businessman from America. He is a co-founder and the chairman of EchoStar and Dish Network. In favour of Joseph Clayton, he resigned from his position as CEO of Dish in May 2011. After Clayton retired in March 2015, Ergen resumed his role as CEO. He held the position until December 2017, when he appointed president and COO Erik Carlson to the position while continuing to serve as chairman. According to Reuters, the change was made to free Ergen from the day-to-day duties of managing DISH and give him more time to expand the company's developing cellular operations. Ergen holds 48% of the shares in Dish and 46% of the shares in Echostar.
