About Phil Knight
Philip Hampson Knight is a multibillionaire businessman from America. He is Nike's co-founder and chairman emeritus, having served as the company's first chairman and CEO. With an estimated wealth of $54.5 billion as of July 23, 2020, Knight was listed by Forbes as the 24th richest person in the world. He also owns the stop-motion film company Laika. Knight earned degrees from the University of Oregon and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He participated in track competitions at the University of Oregon under the guidance of Bill Bowerman, who would later found Nike.
In 1962: After graduation, Knight made a stop in Kobe, Japan, during his journey around the world.
In 1977: Knight founded Athletics West along with Bowerman and Hollister.
In 1998: After failing to pursue a career in rap music, Travis Knight, who had studied from Portland State, began working as an animator at the studio. Knight assumed a 15% share in the business.
In 2006: A large individual donation to a U.S. business school was made by Knight to Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1997, for US$105 million.
In 2007: Knight said that he and his wife would contribute $100 million to establish the UO Athletics Legacy Fund, which will aid in funding all of the university's athletic programs.

In 2000: His Special Contribution to Sports in Oregon earned him induction into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
In 2012: Knight was named a contributor of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
He reportedly ran the entire seven kilometres back to his house while working the night shift at his summer job at the Oregonion tabulating sports results.
He acquired a 15 percent stake in Will Vinton Studios and became its chairman with Nike's cooperation in the late 1990s.
