Tilman Joseph Fertitta was born in 1957, is an American billionaire businessman and media personality. Tilman Fertitta is the owner, CEO, and director of Landry's, Inc. Aside from owning the Houston Rockets; he is also part owner of the NBA team.  In addition, Fertitta heads the University of Houston System's board of regents. The Forbes Billionaires List ranked him 260th. In addition, Forbes lists him as the world's richest restaurateur. The CNBC show Billion Dollar Buyer starred Fertitta. Fertitta purchased the Houston Rockets for $2.2 billion on September 5, 2017.
Tilman Fertitta Career:
1980: Tilman Fertitta was a partner in the first Landry's Restaurant, Landry's Seafood, which opened in the Houston suburb of Katy in 1980. After opening Willie G's Seafood & Steaks in Uptown, Houston, a year later, he helped create an upscale restaurant.
1986: Tilman Fertitta acquired both locations in 1986 and became the sole owner of Landry's Restaurants in 1988. As a result of his public offering of Landry's, Inc. in 1993, the company grew quickly and added concept after concept.
2004: His induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame made him the second-youngest member in the history of the organization.
2010: Tilman Fertitta, who already owned a majority of Landry's, Inc. stock, purchased all outstanding shares in 2010, becoming sole owner once again. Over $1.7 billion had been accumulated by 2011 when its value surpassed $1.7 billion.
