Chanda Kochhar was ICICI Bank's managing director and CEO. She is well-known for her contributions to retail banking in India. Kochhar grew up in the Rajasthan city of Jodhpur. Chanda attended St. Angela Sophia School. She later earned a B.Com from Jai Hind College in Mumbai. Kochhar went on to study cost accounting at ICAI before graduating with a Master's degree from Mumbai's JBIMS. She was awarded the Wockhart Gold Medal for her excellence work.

In 2014, Kochhar was awarded an honorary doctorate by Carleton University in Canada for her groundbreaking work in the finance market.
In 2011, Chanda was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's highest civilian honour.
Kochhar lives in Mumbai with her husband, Deepak Kochhar, a wind energy entrepreneur and business school classmate.
Chanda Kochhar has furthermore served on Manmohan Singh's finance, infrastructure, and trades committee.
