Chrystelle Lee Trump Bond, born in 1938, was an American dancer, choreographer, and author. Bond served as the department of dance at Goucher College's founding chair. The dance history group at Goucher was co-founded by her, and she served as its director. The Baltimore Sun's dancing critic was Bond.
Career:
Bond studied modern dance at the College of Dance in Connecticut under Martha Graham.
From 1960 to 1962, she taught dance and served as artistic director at Cedar Crest College.
In 1963, Bond started teaching at Goucher College. Bond was the ensemble's director and co-founder. Chorégraphie Antique is a group dedicated to the history of dance at Goucher.
In 1966, Bond married William Timothy Bond.
For the Summer Arts Institute at Goucher College in the summer of 1967, Bond instructed a dance history course.
Bond was appointed the first chair of the Goucher Dance Department in 1975.
From 1985 to 1986: Bond presided over the Congress on Research in Dance.
In 1991–1992, Bond obtained funding from the Maryland Humanities Council to study American ballroom dance from before the turn of the 20th century.
She conducted research on Baltimore's dance history from 1780 to 1960.
Awards & Achievements:
In 1984, Bond was given the Goucher Distinguished Faculty Award.
She won the Maryland Council for Dance's distinguished service award in 1994.
Unknown facts:
Bond gave Goucher College her own library. There is about 1,000 pieces total, dating from 1820 to 1962.
Bond passed away at home on May 6, 2020.
