Fred Astaire was born in 1899 in Nebraska. He and his sister Adele Astaire had success on Broadway and in vaudeville, respectively. In 1932, after Adele took a break to get married, Astaire moved to Hollywood. He started his incredibly fruitful collaboration with Ginger Rogers in RKO films. He was also involved in radio and recording during this time. Later, Astaire made several cinematic appearances with a variety of partners through different studios.
Career:
In 1933: Fred Astaire made his Hollywood debut in the movie "Dancing Lady," which was produced by MGM and starred Joan Crawford.
In the same year, after being turned down at his initial audition, he made a comeback to RKO in the movie "Flying Down to Rio."
Between 1941 to 1942: Fred Astaire appeared in two movies with Rita Hayworth: "You'll Never Get Rich “and "You Were Never Lovelier".
In 1948; Fred went back to Hollywood to take Kelly's spot in the movie "Easter Parade".
In 1968; His final significant musical movie was Finian's Rainbow.
Between 1976 to 1978: He appeared in the cult classic "The Amazing Dobermans," the French film "The Purple Taxi," and the television movie "A Family Upside Down," all in supporting roles.
