Christine Wormuth is a well-known American defense official and career civil servant born in California. The 25th and current Secretary of the Army of the United States, Christine Elizabeth Wormuth, is a career civil servant from the United States and the first woman to hold this position. From 2014 until 2016, Wormuth held the position of Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. North of San Diego in southern California's La Jolla enclave, Christine Elizabeth Wormuth was born. She was raised in College Station, Texas, received her undergraduate political science degree from Williams College in Massachusetts, and then went to the University of Maryland for her master's in public policy.
Career:
Wormuth began working for the government in 1995 as a Presidential Management Intern.
Wormuth worked for the Defense Department for six and a half years as a civil servant. Later, she worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies as a senior scholar and then as a government consultant.
Wormuth was chosen to lead the RAND International Security and Defense Policy Center once her time as Under Secretary ended.
Although Wormuth is the first woman to hold a job for the Army, there have been numerous female Secretaries of the Air Force in the history of the US Armed Forces.
Achievements and Awards:
By voice voting, the Senate Armed Services Committee reported Wormuth's nomination on May 24.
On May 27, Wormuth was formally ratified once more by those present. The following day, she was sworn in.
