Kiran Bedi is the first woman Indian police services (IPS) officer. She is an Indian social activist, former tennis player, and politician. Bedi completed her Bachelor of Arts in English from Government College for Women at Amritsar. In 1970, she completed her post-graduation in political science from Punjab University. Then she earned a Bachelor of Law degree from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University. After that, Bedi began her training in Police at the NAA in Mussoorie.

In 1975: Kiran Bedi led the all-male contingent of the Delhi Police at the Republic Day Parade. Kiran Bedi's first posting was to the Chanakyapuri subdivision of Delhi.
In 1986: Bedi became DCP of Delhi's North District, where the emerging problem was rampant Drug Abuse.
In 1980: Kiran Bedi instructed the lathi charge on a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) assembly in the Red Fort area and arrested its leaders. A few months later, Kiran Bedi arrested Congress MP J.P Agrawal for violating curfew orders.
In 1995: Kiran Bedi became the Head of training at the Police Academy.
In 2106: Kiran Bedi became the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
