• In 1986, Richardson began serving as a second lieutenant in the US Army Aviation Branch.
• Richardson flew 128th Aviation Company Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk aircraft.

• In 1989, she moved to serve as an assistant logistics officer with the 17th Aviation Brigade.
