Carolina Herrera is a renowned Venezuelan fashion designer who has dressed several First Ladies, like Laura Bush, Jacqueline Onassis, Michelle Obama, and Melania Trump. She is also noted for her own sense of style. Young Carolina was introduced to the world of fashion by her wealthy grandmother, who took her to Balenciaga runway shows and purchased her clothes at Lanvin and Dior. The woman has said, "My sight was trained to perceive beautiful things." At the age of 18, Herrera wed Venezuelan landowner Guillermo Behrens Tello in 1957. They had two daughters before divorcing in 1964, but not before becoming parents.

In 1965: An early position she held as a publicist was with Emilio Pucci, who was a longtime family friend and member of the Florentine Marquisate.
In 1980: She presented her first runway show with Iman, a future supermodel.
In 1981: Carolina was advised to start a clothing line by her friend Diana Vreeland, who was the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue at the time.
In 2016: Herrera will launch her biggest fragrance launch in 14 years with her new women's fragrance.
In 2018: She handed creative directorship of her eponymous brand over to Wes Gordon in the last line of her signature collection.
