Emanuel Ungaro was born on 13 February 1933 and passed away on 21 December 2019. He was a French fashion designer who founded the House of Emanuel Ungaro in 1965. Ungaro moved to Paris at the age of 22. In three years, he began designing for the House of Cristóbal Balenciaga but left to work for Courrèges. The following year, in 1965, Ungaro opened his own fashion house in Paris in collaboration with Swiss artists Sonja Knapp and Elena Bruna Fassio.
Emanuel Ungaro Career:
• His first menswear collection, Ungaro Uomo, was launched in 1973, and his first perfume, Diva, followed ten years later.

• Emanuel Ungaro Parfums was founded in 1997 by Ungaro, Ferragamo, and Bulgari. Fleur de Diva (1997), Desnuda (2001), and Apparition (2003) were the new perfumes that followed.

• Emanuel Ungaro launched a smart ring in 2015 that dimly lights up when connected to a phone when selected contacts call.

• Emanuel Ungaro retired in 2005 and sold the label to internet entrepreneur Asim Abdullah for US$84 million.

• Emanuel Ungaro sold most of his business to Salvatore Ferragamo SpA in 1996 with the understanding that the Italian brand would establish a handbag and shoe division to support the couture business' losses.

• The business enjoyed healthy growth until the early 1990s, and Ungaro gained high-profile celebrity fans, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Catherine Deneuve.

• Avon and Emanuel Ungaro collaborated in 2008 to launch U by Ungaro for Her and U by Ungaro for Him. A spokeswoman for the scents was actress Reese Witherspoon.

• During the 1980s, Ungaro entered perhaps his most influential period, when he interpreted the era's aggressive and broad-shouldered women's silhouettes with Edwardian-style shirring, ruching, and draping, along with his eye-catching signature prints.
