Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, served two terms from 1829-1837. He was a military hero before he became president. As a general in the War of 1812 he was key to victory in the Battle of New Orleans. Although that’s not all he was, he also dabbled in politics and owned a plantation. His legacy is split but nonetheless, he left a mark on America that’s worthy of studying for historians and political scientists alike.

1780-1781: Andrew Jackson served as a courier during the American Revolution.
1784-1787: Andrew Jackson studied law.
1788-1798: Andrew Jackson practiced law and served in the Tennessee state legislature.
1798-1804: Andrew Jackson represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
1803: Andrew Jackson appointed a judge on the Tennessee Supreme Court.
1812: Commanded American forces in the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812.
1817-1825: Andrew Jackson served as the military governor of Florida.
1822-1823: Andrew Jackson elected to the U.S. Senate but resigned before taking office.
1824: Ran for President of the United States but lost in the election.
1828: Andrew Jackson was elected as the 7th President of the United States.

Andrew Jackson married Rachel Donelson Robards in 1791. They didn't have their own kids, but they did adopt kids and raised them like they were their own. A few of them are Andrew Jackson Jr., Lyncoya, and more kids from the Donelson family.
The Death of Andrew Jackson:
Andrew Jackson, 78 years old, passed away on June 8th, 1845. He was in Tennessee at his plantation called the Hermitage. We believe heart failure was the cause of death but can't be sure. You can still pay respects at his tomb where he rests on the Hermitage.
