Henrietta Maria Early life, Education, Career, Awards, Achievements, Controversy, Unknown Facts

About (Profile/Biography):

Henrietta Maria, a well-known Queen of England, was born in France. The most despised queen consort in British history is Henrietta Maria. She was labelled the "Popish brat of France," an adulterer, and a traitor during her lifetime, but she is still remembered in popular culture as the wife who wore the breeches in her marriage, the person who converted her husband to Christianity (causing the English Civil War), and a harsh and bigoted mother. This objective biography dispels the legends and examines the events from Henrietta Maria's perspective. A picture of a lady who fought Cardinal Richelieu and led the anti-Spanish group at the English court emerges, a woman whose closest acquaintances comprised both Puritans and Catholics.

Henrietta Maria Legacy:

By viewing events through her eyes, one can learn the truth behind the assertions that she started the war, understand why she didn't speak to her son Henry, and lessen the stereotype of the Restoration queen as a petty old woman.

It is time to take another look at this queen who has been attacked frequently and see if Henrietta is not, in reality, one of the most amazing women in British history.

Due to Henrietta sympathy with her kinsmen, the Stuarts, Mary was unpopular with the Dutch.

Henrietta was named regent over the principality of Orange in 1657 on behalf of her son, but due to the challenges of her position, she begged Louis XIV for help.

Henrietta Maria Title:

Henrietta Maria was a brilliant conversationalist, a patron of the arts, a supporter of women's rights, and a mediatrix for her suffering fellow Catholics.

Henrietta Maria was a "phoenix queen," rising from the ashes of her husband's failings to preside over a court that was seen to have "greater joy" than Charles II's Merry Court.

Henrietta Maria Unknown facts:

Henrietta was prohibited from hosting her family after her hospitality toward her brothers, the future Charles II and James II, further enraged the populace.
