Christiane Maria Heideh Amanpour is a reporter and television host who is British and Iranian. Amanpour is CNN's Chief International Journalist and the host of the daily interview show Amanpour on CNN International. She also serves as the PBS host of Amanpour & Company. When she was 11 years old, her parents enrolled her in a boarding school in England after she had spent the most of her elementary school years in Iran. She joined the all-girls Holy Cross Convent in Chalfont Saint Peter, Buckinghamshire, before transferring to the Roman Catholic New Hall School in Chelmsford, Essex, when she was 16 years old.

In 1983: Amanpour was hired by CNN as an entry-level desk assistant on the foreign desk in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1989: She was employed by CNN as an entry-level desk operator on the overseas desk in Atlanta, Georgia.
From 1996 to 2005: Amanpour was hired as a special writer by Don Hewitt, the creator of 60 Minutes, to submit four to five in-depth international news pieces annually.
In 2010: Amanpour made the announcement that she will be leaving CNN to anchor "This Week" on ABC News.
In 2016: Amanpour appeared on Desert Island Discs as a castaway.
