If you have ever watched any sports broadcast then you know who Grant Wahl is. Grant was a specialist in sports journalism. He would work for CBS Sport as a sports reporter and soccer analyst, Fox Sports as a correspondent, and he also wrote for Sports Illustrated. His book The Beckham Experiment came out in 2009.


Grant Wahl completed schooling at Shawnee Mission East High School.

Wahl married Celine Gounder, an infectious diseases specialist, and medical journalist, in 2001.


1996: Wahl began his career with the Miami Herald. After that, he joined Sports Illustrated in November.

1998: "Where's Daddy?" Wahl won critical acclaim for his cover story on illegitimate children born to professional athletes.

2000: Wahl has covered soccer for Sports Illustrated and as a senior writer.

2002: He wrote over 50 cover stories for the magazine, including one on LeBron James.

2011: Wahl announced he was interested in running for president of FIFA, unseating incumbent Sepp Blatter.

2012: After participating in FOX Sports' earlier coverage of the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament, Wahl joined the network in October.

2020: Sports Illustrated fired Wahl after he criticized publisher Maven's CEO James Heckman for handling pay cuts during the Coronavirus outbreak. 

2021: CBS Sports hired Wahl as an analyst and editorial consultant for soccer documentaries to air on Paramount+, where he covered CONCACAF matches.
