John Seigenthaler was an American journalist and advocate for social justice. American society still feels the commitment to journalism and progress that this person brought. A Nashville journalist since 1949, Seigenthaler resigned from The Tennessean in 1960 to represent Robert F. Kennedy as his administrative assistant. During his tenure as USA Today editor, Seigenthaler was also its founding director.
