British politician Mary Elizabeth Truss, often known as Liz Truss, has taken over as the country's prime minister after Boris Johnson resigned. After Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher, Truss is the third woman to be elected as prime minister of the UK. She entered government in 2012 as one of the first MPs from her class to do so. Liz broke the mold when she began her profession as an economist.  


In 1996: Liz joined the Conservative Party.

In 1998: Liz served the Lewisham Deptford Conservative Association.

In 2006: Liz Truss was chosen by the party to serve as a councillor for Eltham South.

In 2014: Liz was named secretary of state for rural, agricultural, and environmental affairs

In the 2022 leadership election, she defeated Rishi Sunak, receiving 57% of the valid votes polled and took the position of Prime Minister.

Truss delivered her speech in front of her home at Downing Street in London in 2022 after being elected as the 56th Prime Minister of England.
