James Richard Perry was born on 4th March 1950. Between 2000 and 2015, he served as Texas' 47th governor and as its 14th secretary of energy. His presidential campaigns in 2012 and 2016 were also unsuccessful. In 1998, Perry became the first Republican Lieutenant Governor in the state since Reconstruction.
