Shelton James Benjamin was born on July 9th, 1975. He is also an actor, in addition to being an American wrestler. On the Raw brand, he is currently known as Shelton Benjamin, who holds the ring name, Shelton Benjamin. As well as working for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and Pro-Wrestling Noah, Benjamin has also worked for ROH, which is a promotion run by the American promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).
Career:
2000: The WWF signed him to a contract, and he was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), one of the WWF's developmental territories at that time.
It's SmackDown time! His home became his refuge! He made his debut on SmackDown as a heel on December 26, 2002! As a member of "Team Angle", he formed a team with Olympic gold medal winner Kurt Angle and former U.S. champion Charlie Haas.
2004: According to a report by ESPN, Benjamin was selected by WWE as part of the lottery for the Raw brand episode of Raw.
On the November 20, 2007: episode of ECW, Elijah Burke introduced the newest member of the ECW brand to the world. It was Benjamin who wrestled under the name of "The Gold Standard," and he wore gold wrestling gear after dying his hair blonde before leaving Monday Night Raw.
Benjamin was selected by SmackDown to represent the company.
A Ring of Honor match featuring Benjamin and Charlie Haas was held at Glory By Honor IX on September 11, 2010, marking both men's debut in a Ring of Honor match.
