Walter Braden "Jack" Finney was born on October 2, 1911, and died on November 14, 1995. A writer from the United States, he wrote several books. In addition to The Body Snatchers, he is known for Time and Again, one of his best-known science fiction novels. A remake of 1956's Invasion of the Body Snatchers was based on the former.
Career:
The first article by Finney appeared in the December 1943 issue of Cosmopolitan titled "Someone Who Knows Told Me ...".
"The Widow's Walk," a story he wrote for Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in 1946, won a contest sponsored by the magazine.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and multiple remakes were based on Finney's 1955 novel The Body Snatchers.
Frank Sinatra plays the leader of a gang that robs the RMS Queen Mary in Assault on a Queen (1959), another novel that became a film.
Time and Again (1970) was Finney's most successful science fiction novel.
In 1951, Finney wrote "Such Interesting Neighbors" for Collier's magazine, in which he was referred to as "Time is Just a Place." The episode was based on the story.
