About (Profile/Biography):

Jean M. Auel, a well-known American writer, was born in Illinois. For her debut book, Auel started conducting intensive library research on the Ice Age in 1977. She enrolled in a survival course to learn how to build an ice cave, and she and Jim Riggs, an authority in indigenous abilities, learned how to make fire, tan leather, and Knapp stone using simple tools. "The kind of person you could put into one end of a wilderness nude, and he'd emerge out the other end nourished, clothed, and sheltered," is how Auelcharacterises Riggs.

Career:

Since 1964, Auel has been a Mensa member. She studied at the University of Portland and Portland State University.

Jean held jobs at Tektronix as a credit manager (1974–1974), technical writer (1973–1974), circuit board designer (1966–1973), and clerk (1965–1966) while she was a student (1974-1976). Ursula K. Le Guin, a writer, once shared a secretary with her.

Numerous literary honors, including the best debut novel nomination from the American Booksellers Association, were up for grabs with The Clan of the Cave Bear.

Through Ayla's physical and emotional journey, Auel examined the distinctions between Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon communities in each of her future volumes.

Achievements and Awards:

Jean began writing poetry and short stories before becoming well-known for her "Earth's Children" series, which focused on life in the Paleolithic era.

Auel could visit ancient places and interact with many specialists she had been communicating with.

Unknown facts:

The Valley of Horses (1982) depicts Ayla's life when she tries to live independently after being expelled from her adopted clan as a teenager.
