Richard Ford was born on February 16, 1944. What he’s known for are his American novels and short stories. A collection of some of his widely anthologized work is called Rock Springs. He earned a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1996 with Independence Day. His story Wildlife which later became a film made its debut in 2018. And lastly, the Park Kyong-ni Prize was awarded to him that same year.
Richard Ford Career:
• Richard Ford published his first novel, A Piece of My Heart, about two unlikely drifters who cross paths on an island in the Mississippi River in 1976, and his second novel, The Ultimate Good Luck, in 1981.
• Richard Ford published Independence Day in 1995, a sequel to The Sportswriter featuring Frank Bascombe, the protagonist.
• Richard Ford also won the Rea Award for the Short Story, honoring outstanding achievements in that genre.
• The author concluded the 1990s with the publication of Women With Men in 1997, which was well received. He was called a "master" of short stories by the Paris Review.
Richard Ford Later Life And Writings:
• His third novel, The Lay Of The Land, was published in 2006, followed by Canada in May 2012. His next story collection, A Multitude of Sins (2002), was published in 2006.
• In 2020, Ford published Sorry For Your Trouble, a collection of short stories. The publication of his novel, Be Mine, is scheduled for 2023. This is Ford's fifth book in the Bascombe series and presumably his last.
