Kisan Baburao Hazare was born in 1937. He is an Indian social activist who has supported rural development, increased government transparency and investigated and punished corruption in public life. Anna Hazare was also instrumental in the development and structure of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in the Partner taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India. In 1992, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan—the third-highest civilian award—for his efforts in establishing this village as a model for others.
