Temsüla Ao was born on 25 October 1945 in Assam and died on 9 October 2022 at 76. Her work included poetry, fiction, and ethnography. Previously, she taught English at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), where she retired in 2010. From 1992 to 1997, Temsüla Ao served as Director of NEHU's North East Zone Cultural Center on deputation. Recognizing her contributions to literature and education, she was awarded the Padma Shri award. The Short Story category of the Sahitya Akademi Award was given to Laburnum For My Head.
