Raden Ayu Lasminingrat was a prominent Sundanese author and scholar, born on March 29, 1854, in Garut, Indonesia. She was the daughter of a Sundanese prince and writer and founded the Women's Proficiency School in 1907. Lasminingrat was the first Indonesian woman to become proficient in speaking and writing Dutch and went on to translate European fairy tales to Sundanese. She made a significant contribution to Sudanese literature and worked on the emancipation and empowerment of women.
