Sulianti Saroso was born in 1917 in Karangasem, Bali. As a child, her father inspired her interest in medicine. The HIV/AIDS and avian influenza epidemics were among the diseases she dedicated her life to battling. Sulianti Saroso Infectious Diseases Hospital in Jakarta received several awards for her contributions to public health.
